Job Duties:
Prepare fields, till, plant, cultivate and/or harvest soybeans, seed rice, millet, milo, wheat, cotton, oats, corn and rice by hand or machine. Operate, repair, clean and maintain agricultural machinery and equipment. Load seed into planters properly and operate equipment to plant cotton, corn, soybeans and rice. Participate in irrigation activities including laying pipe, setting up and operating irrigation equipment and clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches. Build, construct and maintain levees. Install and remove levy gates and put in spillways. Walk rice, soybean and corn fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Rogue rice fields by walking fields on foot when fields are under full flood to remove undesirable off type rice varieties and other indigenous off type plants from each field for purity of variety in rice seed production. Drain excess water from field, open drainage overfill pipes, and walk each field to check for standing water. Receive rice crop for drying and storage at grain drying facility. Dispose of spoiled grain and chop grass out of fields. Haul grain from fields to grain bin. Load and unload grain into trucks while keeping grain level. Bag oats, dry rice and corn. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest soybeans, rice and corn and plant cotton. Use hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment including grain augers. As a minor activity plant cotton and plant and harvest corn. Using the employer's vehicles, licensed drivers may transport workers to the worksite from housing units and/or to town. Assists in Good Agricultural Practices policies. Employer is a drug free workplace. Workers are expected to possess the skills to work in the production of crops listed. The introductory period for all crop activities is 2 days starting with the first day of employment to acclimate the worker to the physical demands of farm work and to familiarize workers with job specifications and to demonstrate proper harvest methods and other crop specific issues. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment and product in a manner to avoid injury or damage. The employer will comply with all federal, state and local safety requirements. Operational specifications can change during the season due to crop or market condition. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each day's work. Instructions and general supervision will be provided by the employer or a designated employee. Workers will have close supervision to insure adherence to instructions. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality. Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments and location of work will be made by the employer or designated employee as the needs of the operation dictate. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different tasks on different days.

Special Requirements:
Three months of farm work experience required. Sit, walk, stoop, bend, push, pull and reach for prolonged periods of time. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Climb up to 100 feet. Wade in water up to 24 inches deep. Work outdoors in hot, cold and/or wet weather. Drug testing is conducted post hire at the employer's expense and is not part of the interview process. Negative results are required before starting work. Hazardous occupation.
