Job Duties:

Pruning--use hand saw and loppers to cut off branches (20%). Weeding--use hands to pull weeds in vegetable and berry rows (5%). Pick blueberries--hand pick ripe fruit into 3-lb buckets, transfer to 25-lb buckets, then to flats of quart berry boxes, rejecting defective and inferior fruit in the process (15%). Pick peaches and apples--hand pick ripe fruit, operating from ground or ladders, put in 40-pound picking bag, dump bag in bins located in orchard (45%). Grading apples and peaches--remove culls and put in 40-pound discard boxes, put good fruit in 40-pound boxes, put boxes on pallets (15%). Minimum Job Requirements: 3 months farm labor experience; carry 40 lb apple bags while climbing ladders; must be able to pick 10 lbs of blueberries per hour, 250 lbs of peaches per hour and 400 lbs of apples per hour.
