- Job Duties:
- Prepare spawning ponds: remove weeds, grass, etc. and fill with water. Select and transfer brood fish (female and male fish) from holding ponds to spawning ponds. Clean, repair spawning containers and place containers in spawning ponds. Monitor water temperature and oxygen levels in ponds. Monitor ponds visually for disease outbreaks and predators. Check spawning containers by feeling inside the container for any fish or spawns; remove spawn (fertilized eggs) and transport to nursery hatching troughs. Clean and disinfect hatching troughs after use. Transfer fry (2 to 4 days old) to nursery ponds. Feed nursery ponds by hand and feeder multiple times per day. Remove spawning containers and consolidate brood fish to holding ponds. Maintain the ponds and levees by removing weeds, grass, etc.

- Work is outside (both cold and hot), work in water, able to swim-ponds are 4-6 deep. Some heavy lifting (30 lbs.) Hours of work may vary due to weather conditions etc. Use various types of nets and/or seines to catch fish, uses mowers, hoes, shovels, Alternate work includes cleaning shed areas, removing debris from farm areas, repairing sheds, etc. Able to perform physically demanding job duties. Must be available for entire contract period and able to perform all job duties. Hours of work may vary due to job duties. Applicants meeting all qualifications required must possess documents to complete INS Form I-9 and be available at time and place necessary to begin employment.
