- Job Duties:
- WATERMELON – Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Perform manual labor to hand cut, pack, and re-pack watermelons. Use hand tools such as: shovels, hoes, brooms, scissors, shears, and knives. Duties also include cleaning, loading, and unloading harvested products. Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh and count products and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Workers may perform manual labor to pull plastic and weeds from the fields. Workers may drive forklift to load watermelons onto a trailer. Removal of irrigation equipment. Work in packinghouse, part of the farm, unloading, loading, sticker, grade, pack, make boxes, place pallets, and clean packing area at end of day. CORN – Must be able to walk miles per day while picking sweet corn from plants within the designated female rows. OFLC Administrator publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate regardless of rate increases or decreases. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules and ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.
