Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by the supervisor. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Minimum of 3 months experience required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30-90 days of hire. Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will be required to operate farm implements such John Deere tractors with GPS guidance for purposes of tillage and planting during the spring planting season. Workers will also be requested to operate custom application equipment as necessary for the maintenance and prevention of weeds and insects to ensure quality and integrity of the crop. They will also be required to operate implements such as John Deere tractors with the necessary farm implements (i.e., grain cart), as well as john Deere combines during the fall harvest season. Workers will also be responsible for driving semi-trucks with hopper trailers for transporting grain to elevators, maneuvering grain cart attachments. A basic working knowledge of farm implement maintenance is preferred, with the ability to perform these duties as needed, in a field or shop setting, with little to no supervision. Grain will also be stored in bins, so a working knowledge of operating bins is preferred. During the summer months, day-to-day responsibilities will include manual labor as required to install and maintain irrigation systems (i.e. poly pipe, levee gates, etc.), miscellaneous duties in and around the shop, including but not limited to small tool work, torch welding, machinery repair, and other daily maintenance. Must be able to lift 75lbs. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. General Specifications and Physical Requirements of the Job: The majority of the workday is spent on one’s feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements. Worker must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Workers should expect periods of little/no work during growing time. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Employer reserves the right to require random drug screening of employees at the employer’s expense. Applicants found to be under the influence of drugs and are unable to provide documentation from a medical professional, will be immediately terminated out of concern for workplace safety, and paid for all hours worked between the first date of employment and the date of termination, if any. In the case of a foreign worker who is terminated for cause resulting from findings of the drug screen, the employer will arrange least-cost transportation to the worker's place of recruitment, at the worker's expense. Work requires repetitive movements, and the majority of time is spent on ones feet. Workers should be able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations. Proper work attire is required. No personal cell phone usage on the job. Cell phone use should be limited to contact with the supervisor and other employees as necessary to perform job duties. After worker has completed 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse worker for the cost of transportation to the place of recruitment. Upon arrival to the place of employment, workers who provide receipts for meals and non-alcoholic beverages in excess of $14.00 will be reimbursed during the first pay period, up to the maximum of $59.00 per 24-hour period of travel from the place of recruitment to the place of employment (if it is the prevailing practice).
