IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING WAGES FOR TEMPORARY AGRICULTURAL JOBS
The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Operating large farm equipment and machinery equipped with GPS such as tractor, combine, cotton picker, etc. for cultivating, tilling, fertilizing, planting, moving, storing, harvesting grain and oilseed crops such as soybeans and rice; assisting with the installation and operation of irrigation systems for watering crops, placing irrigation pipe and equipment in field; driving semi-truck or tractor with trailer attached to move crops or equipment to designated locations; assisting with grain bin, auger operation and maintenance; driving farm vehicle; minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
