Job Duties:
Performs any of the following tasks to attend to livestock: Administer medications/vaccinations; Check cattle feed & water equipment; Maintain cattle feed & water equipment; Clean livestock stalls with disinfectant; Confine livestock to stalls; Feed livestock; Inspect livestock for illness/injury; Mix additives in feed; Collect and remove manure; Maintain heated watering system; Operate snow removal Duties will primarily consist of managing the cattle herd and fencing. Workers will load/unload trucks, clean equipment and work areas. May work with irrigation equipment, cultivate and fertilize soil and crops. Will perform duties such as harvest of hay, raking hay, and clear fence rows, clean/repair farm buildings, dig ditches, cut firewood, feed animals, and other farm activities. Must be able to operate some farm equipment such as tractors, post hole diggers, small power tools, and hand tools. In the months of February and March, the workers will be feeding and monitoring the health of our cattle herd as well as feeding weaned calves as we background them to sell in the spring or summer. Will perform cleanup which includes removing trash and other debris left in the pastures, barns, and any other necessary duties. Workers will need to have the ability to weld and use a cutting torch. Workers will need to have the ability to operate heavy machinery, such as a dozer or excavator for the installation of culverts and drainage pipes in pastures and ditches. Drive and operate farm machinery to put up hay, feed cattle. Day to day tasks of animal husbandry. General service, lubrication, repairs to equipment. Drive truck to fetch feed and deliver feed, cattle and hay. Other miscellaneous and manual labor duties around the farm. Maintaining and operating snow removal and feed equipment only used in winter months. Cleaning snow off of cattle feeding grounds. Clearing snow from yards and barn. Maintaining heated water systems. Removing ice from water. Maintaining heated section of barn so that equipment is operational during coldest weather. Examining animals to detect weather related injuries. Moving animals for protection from bad weather. Repair and maintenance of farm and irrigation equipment. We need seasonal employees to assistant with feeding and taking care of livestock. Employee will need to work cattle, vaccinate cattle, feed cattle, calf out cows, check on calves, assist with birthing and deliveries, clean pens, replenish straw bedding, etc. Running water and hauling water while cows are on corn stocks. Feeding hay and putting out straw for bedding. Helping calf out cows and check on the health of calves. Assist with working cattle including vaccinating and doing health checks. Building electric fence and picking up electric fence, also repair and maintenance of wooden fences. Employees will also assist with preparing fat cows for sale in May. Employees will assist with all duties related to the care of the livestock during this period. Employer will pay performance-based incentive bonuses at the end of the contract at employer’s discretion. Drive water truck; Move water equipment; Feed protein; Drive ATV's; Haul feed/hay.
