Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time: Laydown / Spacing / Re-spaced Pots: Prepare field laydown. Collect metal shelves and plug trays. Space pots and reassemble trays using wagons, tractors, conveyors, or by hand. General Clean-up: Remove weeds from bays, roads, pots, and other areas. Cut grass using farm tools Pinching / Mowing Operations: Trim plants using scissors, EZ trimmers, or mowers. Clean and disinfected equipment. Collect and dispose of cuttings by hand or with equipment. Planting-Replanting: Remove dead plants and replant new ones. Hooks / Trellises: Install or remove hooks and trellises in pots. Centers: Plant centerpiece plants in fields, greenhouses, or shipping areas by hand or with conveyors/equipment. Tags: Insert, remove, or cut tags by hand or with scissors in greenhouse, shipping barn, or field. Fix Pots / Clean Bays: Repair pots. Build and wrap pallets with scrap pots, trays, and leftover material. Greenhouse Structures - Irrigation & Drainage: Install, maintain, or repair farm structures (shade house, shipping barn, plastic house, ground cover). Install, maintain, or repair irrigation and drainage systems. Planting / Transfer Table Operations: Feed transplant/soil lines. Dibble, plant, label, tag, and space pots/trays. Collect trash. Use ladders and cutting tools as needed. Rack Operations: Assemble and organize racks. Decorate racks with labels, stickers, posters. Load/unload racks with pots by hand or equipment. Transport racks with CC carts. Shipping Operations: Organize racks for shipping. Clean pots/racks, replace damaged plants/tags. Wrap racks. Load/unload trucks with equipment/tools. Prepare labels, documents, and chemical bales. Scan racks and place trackers (Teves). Safety: Follow safety policy. Use PPE. Attend safety meetings. Shifts of operations: All tasks may be performed on day or night shifts. Lights and generators will be used for night operations. Farm Equipment Operator: Operate farm equipment for harvest, crop production, and general applications. Conduct safety inspections of farm equipment and make field adjustments as needed. Will be operating these equipments on both day and night shifts. General Specifications and Physical Requirements of the Job: The majority of the workday is spent on one’s feet, constantly in movement, and outdoors. Workers are rarely in one place for any period of time. It is estimated that 20% of the time will be spent field packing, 10% growing and maintaining, and 70% harvesting the products. All of the packing is done on in the field, as indicated as secondary agriculture under the FLSA definition of agriculture. Workers must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, lift and carry items weighing in range from 5 to 35 pounds during the course of performing all required job specifications. All work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements. Workers must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight, and conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described.
