Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse such as: Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery such as swather, truck, baler, plow, landplane, drill to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest forage and grain crops; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Maintain inventory; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Repair, fashion, maintain farm buildings, fences, water structures, and other structures; Attach implements using hand tools; Ship, receive, sort; Perform land management such as mowing and spraying; Open and close gates; Maintain fields for mineral and nutrient availability; Keeping up with maintenance on all trucks, trailers and feed trucks used for feeding and hauling cattle; Hauling hay, unloading, stacking and putting out for cows during winter and drought; Monitoring fence lines and keeping gates and all fencing maintained and repaired. Replace and build new fence when needed; Monitor pastures and check bulls, cows and calves for injury, sickness or lameness. Report and assist with isolating and doctoring; Monitor heifers closely during calving season; report and intervene when necessary; Assist with difficult calving and rescue occasional orphaned or distressed newborns and report and begin supplement nutrition ASAP; Feed rotation and hay during colder months and weather stressed pasture; Check water troughs and all water lines; Repair and replace when needed; Clean out troughs when needed; Assist with moving cattle for pasture rotation; Maintain, prepare and repair stationary cattle pens for spring and fall working and shipping cattle; move and set up portable cattle pens at all pasture worksites; Welding for maintenance of equipment, gate and fence repairs; Working cattle; Gathering, penning, work chutes and gates to separate calves and older cows to sell; Assist as needed with tagging, vetting, fly spraying; Tag and number all calves for ID/paired to mother; Load out calves to be shipped and old cows to sell, helping tooth cows for age and health; Monitor, check on and feed horses; Maintain and upkeep tack and tack room; maintain and upkeep of feed room; Tractor maintenance and prep ground for winter oats – plant oats; Perform management practices to enhance pasture – including plowing, shredding, spraying for weeds and prescribed patch burning; Must speak and understand English.
