- Job Duties:
- Prepare for calving season and care for pregnant cows. Calve out calves during the calving season. Medicate, vaccinate and treat for seasonal sicknesses. Care for newborn calves and nursing mothers. Isolate sick calves. Fix and repair fencing damaged by drifting snow. Move cattle to and from summer grazing pastures. Wean all calves during the weaning season. Prepare fields for planting. Pick rocks and operate tractors to till the soil. Operate farming equipment in order to plant, spray, fertilize, harvest and haul grain and soybean crops. Load crops into bins and elevators. Perform routine maintenance to farming equipment and make infield repairs when necessary. General farm upkeep duties such as facility maintenance and shop work.
