- Job Duties:
- Duties for crawfish: Farm labor includes running crawfish boats, setting nets, running nets, operating motorboats; grading crawfish, carry sacks, weigh crawfish, carry from pond to house; driving and running equipment such as tractors, dozers, etc., for planting in March, April and May. Duties for rice and soybean: Planting in March, April and May, harvest first rice crop in July/August and second crop harvest is September/October along with soybeans; maintenance of equipment, cleaning shop, equipment; general farm upkeep, clean bins, load and unload rice trucks. Drive from housing to farm and bins. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Must be physically capable to climb ladder to enter rice bin and steps to tractor. Involves lifting and carrying of 70 lbs frequently
The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
