Job Duties:
Crops/Commodities: corn, soybeans, oats. Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Multiple contract start dates available. Alternative start date(s) include the following: 5/1/2026 Worker will be required to complete various tasks in an agricultural environment. Employees are expected to operate tractors, implements, and other mechanized farm equipment to plant, cultivate, prosper and harvest grain crops. Employees will also perform manual and mechanized tasks including but not limited to: 1. Seed bed preparation 2. Planting operations 3. Weed control 4. Harvesting Operations 5. Transportation of grain 6. Water and irrigation ditch digging 7. General cleanup and maintenance The equipment used to complete these activities will include tractors of various sizes, utility vehicles, dozers, forklifts, excavators, backhoes, skid loaders, planting equipment, mowers, plows, row-crop cultivators, tine weeders, rotary hoes, field cultivators, burners, zappers, disks, rippers, spreaders, harvesting equipment, grain carts, pickup trucks, semi tractor-trailers, etc. Workers will be required to manipulate the controls of this equipment to set, activate, and adjust the mechanisms of the machinery. Adjust speeds, tilt and aggressiveness of the machine. Employees will also be required to clean, adjust, repair, and perform routine service on equipment (lubricating grease points, inspecting and maintaining fluid levels, checking belts and conveyors for tension, maintaining tires, wheels, bearings, and other wear parts). Repair and replace defective parts. Attach and detach farm implements and use hand tools. Employee may also assist with other general farm maintenance and repairs. Workers must operate all equipment and property in a manner that protects the operator, others, and the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Early in the season, employees will assist with equipment setup and maintenance, as needed, in a shop and/or outdoor setting. Prior to planting or seed bed preparation, workers will pick-up and remove rocks, stones, and debris by walking the fields or operating machinery to do so. As the crop-growing season progresses, workers will identify weeds in corn, soybean, and oat fields and perform manual pulling/removal of weeds from the farm fields in order to promote plant health and enhance yield. Workers will walk and remove weeds at the root by hand or with the use of hand tools such as hoes, shovels, or knives. As plants grown taller physical movement can be inhibited. Work is to be done for long periods of time. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work may require repetitive movements and extensive walking. Allergies to dust, dirt, ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, chemicals, and other maladies may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Work is sometimes required in wet fields with dew and rain, and may be required during light snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures can range from 10 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Throughout the season, workers will assist in cleaning out bins of corn, soybeans, and oats operating shovel and brooms as needed. Employees must also wear assigned personal protective equipment when required and must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots suitable for the weather and conditions present. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work. In the event of an accident or upon reasonable suspicion, employer-paid post-hire drug testing may be required.
