- Job Duties:
- Workers will prepare trees for harvest by cutting roots and removing soil using shovels, pick axes, and other tools. They will package mechanically dug trees for transport by wrapping root balls in burlap, tying baskets and branches with sisal rope, and crimping wire baskets. Duties include loading trailers, covering with tarps, tying trees, and unloading bare root trees weighing 50–75 pounds from tractor trailers to staging areas 50–100 feet away. Workers will prune, load, plant, and stake new trees and perform general farm tasks such as unloading and organizing supplies, cleaning, and maintaining farm grounds and facilities. Must be willing to work in inclement weather and may work beyond stated hours. Workers may operate tractors, motorized pruning equipment, skid steers, and other farm machinery after safety training; failure to follow safety rules may result in termination. Employer may discharge workers unwilling to perform required tasks. Teamwork is essential for certain duties.
