Job Duties:
Crops/Commodities: Trees. Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Plant trees, Unload tree liners from trucks and move trees to planting locations. Plant trees in the nursery by hand and/or behind the tractor planter. Harvest trees - Work on a dig crew to harvest trees into balled & burlapped root balls. Tasks may include shoveling, tying twine, crimping baskets, wrapping burlap, and any other harvest related duties. Wrap/tie up trees - Wrap tree trunks for protection in the field and for shipping. Tie tree tops with twine for shipping. Loading and shipping trees - Load, tie up, and secure trees onto trucks/trailers. Field inventory and tagging trees - Count, inventory, and grade trees. Cut trees to grub using an ax or chainsaw and remove from the field. Pruning and staking trees - Use hand pruners to train trees to their appropriate species shape. Stake trees based on nursery standards to create uniformity. Watering and irrigation - Install and maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Hand water trees in the field as needed using a water tank. Field and holding yard weeding - Weed fields and holding yard. Nursery grounds care and maintenance - Perform shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, pruners, and saws. Maintain clean and safe work area - Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Keep the shop and work areas clean and safe. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. General tool and equipment maintenance Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Job opportunity is Skill Level I. All primary duties are entry-level and require close supervision and/or a short demonstration of the task by a more experienced worker. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. TERMINATION. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for cause if the worker's performance consistently and/or substantially fails to satisfy the employer's reasonable expectations (in accordance with the criteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregious misconduct that endangers health, safety, or property. In assessing whether workers' performance meets reasonable expectations, employer evaluates, among other reasonable criteria, whether the worker: (1) has adequately complied with the Work Rules and any other policies or procedures; (2) has complied with all health and safety guidelines, including the use of tools or equipment in accordance with best practices to protect the employer's property, crops, and in a manner that avoids injury or damage; (3) has treated company property (tools, equipment, crops, fixtures, etc.

Two months nursery experience Work outside in extremely hot, cold, wind, light rain or snow. Lift, carry and load up to 60 lbs. Use a three-step stool. Walk, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Push and pull carts loaded with plants and/or materials.
