Job Duties:
First Line Supervisor of Sod Farmworkers. Directly supervise and coordinate the work activities of manual sod harvest operators and sod delivery drivers. Assign duties and work schedules. Make reports to the Farm Manager, Human Resource Director, or Safety, Compliance and Risk Director. May assist the Farm Manager in oversight of multiple delivery, production and harvest crews and monitor them for safety, quality, productivity and workplace compliance. May conduct routine inspections of employer-provided housing to ensure compliance with the North Carolina Migrant Housing Act, maintain accurate inspection records, and report corrections to the Safety, Compliance and Risk Director. Translate written training materials, standard operating procedures, safety manuals, and other documents from English to Spanish. May assist with recruitment of qualified seasonal farmworkers, such as conducting candidate interviews in English and Spanish. May assist with or conduct seasonal farmworker orientation, onboarding, and safety training. May coordinate and conduct job-specific on-the-farm training sessions for farm, field, and production workers in English and Spanish, on topics such as pesticide handling, food safety, heat stress, and farmworker health and hygiene. Must maintain accurate records of all training conducted, including attendance, evaluations, and certifications. May transport, accompany and assist seasonal farmworkers with their driver’s license, social security card, passport, and other governmental application or renewal processes. Puede colaborar en la contratación de trabajadores agrícolas temporales calificados, incluyendo la realización de entrevistas a candidatos en inglés y español. Puede colaborar o impartir la orientación, la incorporación y la capacitación en seguridad para los trabajadores agrícolas temporales. Puede coordinar e impartir sesiones de capacitación específicas en la granja para trabajadores agrícolas, de campo y de producción, en inglés y español, sobre temas como el manejo de pesticidas, la seguridad alimentaria, el estrés por calor y la salud e higiene de los trabajadores agrícolas. Special Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry 35 lbs. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and perform well under time-critical deadlines. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision. Must be willing and able to work outdoors in farm and field environments as needed in order to supervise or conduct in person, hands on training of farmworkers. Must possess effective organization, presentation and communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and Spanish. Must be proficient with digital learning and presentation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. May be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Continued.
