Job Duties:
Manual Sod Harvester Operator/Installer: Operate manual sod harvesting equipment with forklift attached to manual harvester without electronic scales. Operate forklift to load and unload pallets of turf and other farm materials. Load and unload sod and other farm materials by hand. May operate and perform minor maintenance and repairs to irrigation system. Operate mowers. Plant, water, spray, and weed sod. Prepare soil and growth medium, haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, lime and other soil conditions on sod grass and turf areas. Digs, rakes, screens soil. Fill tanks with water. Cut, roll and stack sod by hand. May roll out sod produced on the farm or sprinkle sprigs of sod produced on the sod farm for installation at remote customer sites. May operate and perform minor maintenance and repairs on farm vehicles, implements and equipment. May repair fences, sheds, and other farm buildings and structures. Perform farm, field and shed sanitation duties. Mow grass and operate trimmer around farm buildings. Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting. Operate farm vehicles to haul crops and drive other farmworkers from place to place around the farm properties (including on public roads to reach farmer’s fields) during the workday. Though not a hiring requirement, if a worker drives a company vehicle during the period of employment then at the time of operating the company vehicle the driver must possess a valid driver’s license issued by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent and operate the company vehicle in accordance with the license restrictions and vehicle classifications applicable to that license. Puede extender el césped producido en la granja o esparcir esquejes de césped producidos en la granja para su instalación en las propiedades de los clientes. Puede operar y realizar mantenimiento y reparaciones menores en vehículos, implementos y equipos agrícolas. Puede reparar cercas, cobertizos y otros edificios y estructuras agrícolas. Realizar tareas de saneamiento en la granja, los campos y los cobertizos. Cortar el césped y usar la desbrozadora alrededor de los edificios de la granja. Dirigir y supervisar el trabajo del personal eventual y de temporada durante la siembra y la cosecha. Operar vehículos agrícolas para transportar cultivos y a otros trabajadores agrícolas de un lugar a otro dentro de las propiedades de la granja (incluso en carreteras públicas para llegar a los campos del agricultor) durante la jornada laboral. Special Requirements:
Prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Allergies to grasses, ragweed, goldenrod etc. may affect workers ability to perform the job. Workers should be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodation. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Must not hinder another workers productivity. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. Must be 18 years old. Continued.
