- Job Duties:
- Prepare for calving season. Calve out calves during the calving season. Medicate, vaccinate and treat for seasonal sicknesses. Tag calves. Care for newborn calves and nursing mothers. Isolate sick calves. Build and repair livestock fencing. Move cattle to and from summer grazing pastures. Wean all calves during the weaning season. Prepare fields for planting. Pick rocks and operate tractors to till the soil. Operate farming equipment in order to plant, spray, fertilize, harvest and haul small grain and hay crops. Cut, bale, transport and stack hay. Perform routine maintenance to farming equipment and make infield repairs when necessary. Build and repair sheds and other farm structures. Dig trenches and install pipeline for irrigation systems and dugouts. General farm upkeep duties such as facility maintenance and shop work.
