Job Duties:

Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand and power tools. Duties include sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, pruning, mulching, weeding, edging, removing thatch, composting leaves, and maintaining lawns, flower beds, ground-level trees, shrubs, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, and planters. Workers will use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning shears, and loppers (for ground-level trees), and operate equipment including mowers, chainsaws, sod cutters, rototillers, and sprayers when mowing grass, trimming hedges, planting vegetation, and applying commercial fertilizers or pesticides. Workers will install landscape features such as wall units, walkways, patios, fire pits, and water features using (mortarless) interlocking concrete masonry blocks, natural stone, and brick pavers. Installation tasks include excavating 6–10 inches, grading and compacting a gravel base, placing and aligning blocks or pavers on a leveled sand layer, backfilling and tamping for stability, and cleaning the work area. These tasks are performed using shovels, rakes, trowels, levels, string lines, wheelbarrows, rubber mallets, plate compactors, and cut-off saws. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to hot/cold temperatures and noise. Workers must wear common protective or safety equipment and are expected to be attentive to detail, thorough in completing tasks, cooperative, and responsible.
