Blueberry Harvesting: Workers will move down assigned rows picking all ripe berries, placing them in buckets. Once full, each bucket weights approximately 6 lbs. When buckets are filled, the worker will immediately carry the bucket to the picking wagon. At the picking wagon, workers will dump each filled bucket into a lug where the worker will sort through the harvested berries and remove any berries that do not meet the company's quality/food safety standards. Each lug will then be inspected by the worker's supervisor. Each worker will receive credit for each harvested lug when the supervisor has inspected and approved the lug. Any lug not approved will be returned to the worker to be re-graded. Workers must pick a minimum of 24 pounds per hour.
Blackberry Harvesting: Workers will use picking stand and move down assigned row, picking all ripe berries, taking care to sort and pack containers by size, shape, color, quality and quantity as directed by the supervisor. Each worker shall handle berries carefully to avoid bruising. Bruising will weaken the berry. Upon completion of each box picked, the worker will take his/her completed box to the crate shed to be viewed for grade, palletized and receive credit on his/her picking badge. Any containers that are over under packed will be returned to the worker for repacking. Workers must pick a minimum of four (4) boxes (each containing 12 clamshells) per hour.
Watermelon: Workers will sort and pack watermelons in field shed based on criteria outlined such as size, coloring and ripeness, taking care to avoid damage or bruising.
Corn Harvesting: Workers will manually harvest and pack corn by hand and machine. Corn harvesting will be performed using mule train in crews. Workers will be pulling corn off the stalk and tossing into a metal bin on the mule train. They will walk behind, in front of, or drive the mule train. Workers must keep up with the mule train as it moves slowly through the field. They will also assemble boxes/crates on the top of the mule train. Packers will pick corn out of the bins and place ears into pre-made crates. Packed crates are moved to workers who will fold and close the lid of the crates and push them down the conveyor belt system. Loaders will lift and stack the full crates of corn onto the truck. They will count and check the crates as they are loaded onto truck.
