Job Duties:
Perform ag related duties including planting, spraying, watering, and harvesting cotton, corn, soybeans and pumpkins. Will help tend to field research plots, including driving a tractor to plant and spray, hand planting, hand weeding, watering and harvesting. Perform difficult manual labor involving picking, cutting, lifting, loading and unloading small and large pumpkins. Pick, lift and load an average of 60 lb. pumpkins all day working at a reasonable pace. Must be able to bend and stoop for extended amounts of time to pick weeds, load bins and trailers with pumpkins, pick up bags of fertilizer, etc. Work outdoors in hear, cold or rain. Help maintain grounds and equipment and keep work area clean of debris. Alternate work may include mowing, weeding, maintenance and/or ditch digging or other general farm duties. Must have at least 1 month of tractor driving experience. Workers who hold a valid US drivers license and complete an employer paid safety certification may deliver our products at market locations within 120 mile radius of our location and/or transport workers. Workers are expected to possess the skills to work in the production of farm crops and pumpkins. The introductory period for all field activities is 2 days starting with the first day of employment to acclimate the worker to the physical demands, to familiarize workers with job specifications, confirm ability of worker to drive a tractor and to demonstrate proper hoeing, picking and loading methods to allow worker to reach production standards of hoeing 2500 square feet of medium weed stand in an hour. All workers are to adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment and product in a manner to avoid injury or damage. The employer will comply with all federal, state and local safety requirements.
