Job Duties:
Job Description: Harvesting Gladiolus: Employees will harvest gladiolus working in teams of two or three. Cut the flower stem to remove flower from plant according to supervisor's instructions and bundles approximately 85 stems together in special made flower straps. There is a mandatory production standard of eight (8) bundles of cut flowers per worker per hour. Employees will be required to carry full bundles to field roadways. Field Pick Up of Harvested Bundles: Gladiolus sunflowers, achillea, ammi, anethum, amaranthus, aster, atriplex, bupleurum, bells of Ireland, celosia, dahlia, feathertop ornamental grass, panicum elegans, gypsophila, lipidum, persian cress. sataria. larkspur, euphorbia, salanum, stellate, helichrysum, verbena, wheat, zinnia: Worker will pick up harvested bundles of the above listed flowers from the field roadways and place on the rear end of the field truck. Workers will then stack and load the bundles according to supervisor's instructions. Harvesting: Sunflower, ammi, anethum, amaranthus, aster, atriplex, bupleurum, bells of Ireland, celosia, dahlia, feathertop ornamental grass, panicum elegans, gypsophila, lipidum, persian cress, sataria, larkspur, euphorbia, salanum, stellate, helichrysum,verbena, wheat, zinnia Harvest: Workers will harvest the above listed flowers according to supervisor instructions. Employee will cut the flower stems to remove the flower from the plant, remove the leaves bundle the flowers together in special made flower straps, then carry full bundles of harvested flowers to the field roadways. Bouquet Processing: Employees will process bouquets of gladiolus, sunflowers, achillea, ammi, anethum, amaranthus, aster, atriplex, bupleurum, bells of Ireland, celosia, dahlia, feathertop ornamental grass, panicum elegans. gypsophila, lipidum, persian cress, sataria, larkspur, euphorbia, salanum, stellate, helichrysum,verbena, wheat, zinnia: working in teams of two. Flowers are to be graded and banded according to supervisor's instructions. There is a mandatory production standard of 1,750 stems processed per worker per hour. Mixed Bouquet Processing: Employee will process bouquets of mixed gladiolus, sunflowers, achillea. ammi, anethum, amaranthus, aster, atriplex, bupleurum, bells of Ireland, celosia, dahlia, feathertop ornamental grass, panicum elegans, gypsophila, lipidum. persian cress, sataria, larkspur, euphorbia, salanum, stellate, helichrysum,verbena, wheat, zinnia: flowers. Flowers will be graded and mixed and banded according to supervisor's instructions. Feeding Bundles/Flowers: Worker will feed/carry un-bunched bundles of gladiolus, sunflowers, achillea, ammi, anethum, amaranthus, aster, atriplex, bupleurum, bells of Ireland, celosia, dahlia, feathertop ornamental grass, panicum eleqans, gypsophila, lipidum, persian cress, sataria. Larkspur, euphorbia. salanum, stellate, helichrysum,verbena, wheat, zinnia: flowers to Bouquet Processing tables according to the supervisors instructions. The employee may receive the un-bunched bundles/flowers from the floor and in some instances from another person or a cart. Employee will remove the belts and piece tag from the gladiolus bundles and place them in the appropriate container. Bundling/Flowers: Worker will take pre-counted bundles of processed bouquets of gladiola and band the bouquets together. Worker will use a banding machine to place a plastic strap around the bundle of gladiolus and place the strapped bundles on carts to be inventoried according to the supervisor's instructions. Worker will take pre-counted bundles of processed sunflowers, achillea, ammi, anethum, amaranthus, aster. atriplex, bupleurum. bells of Ireland, celosia, dahlia, feathertop ornamental grass, panicum eleqans. qypsophila, lipidum, persian cress, sataria, larkspur, euphorbia, salanum, stellate, helichrysum,verbena, wheat. zinnia: bouquets and place them in buckets on carts to be inventoried.

Special Requirements:
All applicants must have 1-month experience hand harvesting a perishable crop. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject random drug testing post hire at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
