Job Duties:
Temporary Seasonal Position: Farm worker; Crop | SOC Code: 45-2092 All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described & must be available for entire period. Naumes, Inc. , Medford, OR, Jackson Possible shift: 6:00AM-2:30PM. 35-40+ May be possibility of weekend work. Crops: Pears. Duties may include: Pick variety of pears from tree using a 10-14 foot ladder, pick pears gently w/ out pulling, squeezing or ripping from tree so it is not dropped. Handle fruit gently so it is not bruised or scuffed.Manual weed, clean, till soil, thin, cultivate, prune, spray pesticides and fertilizers harvest field crops in orchard using various hand and power equipment/vehicles, load/unload bins & trucks; tree tying, recognizing tree diseases and caring for trees during growth, follow safety rules, quality control program, food safety and good agricultural processes during harvest; pre- or post-harvest cleanup, inability to abide by these guidelines after proper training may result in termination, may construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings to assist in the establishment/maintenance of new and existing properties, perform cleanup tasks on and around properties doing farm maintenance/repairs to equipment & other related Farm worker; Crop activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org). On-the-job training provided. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 50lbs; may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. Tools supplies and equipment provided at no cost to worker. Employer guarantees 3/4 of contract. Work outdoors, exposed to weather, hot or cold; hrs may vary (+/-); possible downtimes and/or extended hrs. Dependable: fulfill obligations. Attn. to detail: complete work tasks. Employer provided housing available to those who cannot reasonably return to their residence within the same day. Cell phone use allowable during designated breaks. Production standard: Pears: Worker must pick 50% of a standard bin or 75% of a 2/3 bin per hour to not fall below AEWR wage. Must be 18 years of age. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/ refusal to abide = dismissal. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show legal authorization to work in the United States.
