- Job Duties:
- General Labor: In the field and on the farm: Under foreman/supervisor direction employee will harvest raspberry crop, fresh juice, and or freezer. By hand, properly grades and sorts raspberries according to size, maturity, and quality. Prior to packaging inspects fruit for any quality defects and signs of disease and insect manifestation. Packages suitable fruit in required packaging container and box. Discards inferior raspberries onto row floor. Boxed with product can weight up to 50lbs. Employee is responsible for manually removing weeds, cultivating, planting, thins crop, transplanting, deflowering, crop removal, shoveler, bed up labor and all other duties assigned with the raspberry crop. Plant cleaning by using a long-handled hoe. Hand pulling plastic pulling of drip tape, plant/field maintenance, cleaning of old and new vegetative growth on plant bed. Weeding by hand is intermediate (20% of the weekly work time) Employee stacks Raspberry boxes or cartons onto pallets on trailer in the field. Transfers raspberry boxes/cartons from harvest planter to inspections table. Prepares empty boxes/cartons for harvester by placing empty baskets. Stamps grower seal onto all boxes prior to transporting into the cooler. Works with stacker to keep pallets moving and ready for pick up by forklift driver. Must adhere to all Food Safety and Worker safety standards at all times.
Employee Housing and Field Health Coordinator: Incident to and in conjunction with other agricultural operations on the farm, workers will perform secondary agricultural functions, as described in 29 C.F.R. 780.105(c), that includes: monitoring the employees health and well belling, thru such observation, documenting and reporting employee responses and temperature checks to detect symptoms as outlined by the CDC. Educating employees in the prevention of spreading disease. Monitoring of the sanitation of the employee quarters, on site work environment, and transportation, documenting the progress and reporting back and concerns to Management.
Puncher/QA: In the field and on the farm: Incident to and in conjunction with other agricultural operations on the farm, workers will perform secondary agricultural functions, as described in 29 C.F.R. 780.105(c), under foreman/supervisor direction that includes: checking fellow coworkers in and out of work using an electric or manual time scanner system. Inspect quality of fruit and packaging to meet the quality assurance specifications. Must not accept product from harvest until required quality is met. Assist in repacking quality not accepted by cooler. Record daily harvest total. Assist foreman with office documents such as new hire packets and daily field reports. Must adhere to all Food Safety and Worker Safety standards at all times.
Forklift Driver: under the direction of the supervisor the driver is responsible for supplying the forklift with packaging materials needed for specific packs, covering the completed pallets with a plastic liner to protect the finished cartons from inclement weather, loading and unloading produce boxes, assist in preparing the harvest machine for immediate field operation, or movement to a new location. Directing the forklift through the field, pulling loaded trailers out. Employee must conduct daily maintenance check prior to operating the forklift. Required to have basic knowledge of driving a forklift, must pass forklift safety training and demonstrate ability to operate /forklift in a safe manner.
