Job Duties:

Attends sheep flock grazing on range or pasture: Herds flock and rounds up strays using trained dogs. Beds down flock near evening campsite. Guards flock from predatory animals and from eating poisonous plants. Drenches sheep and/or goats. May examine animals for signs of illness and administer vaccines, medications and insecticides according to instructions. May assist in lambing, docking, and shearing. The work activities involve the herding or production of sheep (which includes work that is closely and directly related to herding and/or the production of sheep). Must have 3 months experience. More than 50% of work will be performed on the range. ***On call for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week*** Employer will provide to each worker all items necessary to carry out the worker's duties at no cost to the worker. The items provided will include the following: sheepherders camp, Whistle, knife, rope, sleeping bag/bedding., flashlights, lanterns, pliers, wire, horse with tack and feed, dog, dog food, wood for sheepherders camp, wash tub for clothes, garbage cans, pots, pans, plates, utensils, flashlight, cell, matches.

Special Requirements:

*The employer will provide worker's compensation coverage for injury and disease arising out of and in the course of the worker's employment and no cost to the worker and will be in effect not later than the beginning date of this job order. *Worker will be directed and controlled by the ranch operator and/or designated foreman. However, workers are often required to work alone for long periods without supervision and to perform the required work reliably and properly. Three months prior experience.
