Job Duties:

Require Field Workers to work on the following commodities: avocados, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, table grapes, corn, cucumber, basil, and potatoes. Workers will be required to perform planting, pruning, loading and unloading, digging holes, and farm labor related to the aforementioned commodities. Workers will also be pulling weeds with long handled hoes, in addition to using string trimmers, raking, clearing land, laying irrigation pipes, digging ditches, and cleaning fields. Harvester: Responsibilities: Distinguish and harvest all fruits according to size, shape, and color. Use hand tools, ladders, and other equipment and completed assigned tasks efficiently. Snipe stems and separate unwanted substances from fruits. Weigh, place, and arrange fruits into containers, carefully and properly. Pack and load filled fruit-containers onto trucks for transportation. All packing and loading duties will be performed in the field and on the farm. Remove damaged and defective fruits and clean work site, as required.

Special Requirements:

Workers will be trained for at least 7 days; three months previous experience working with any of the commodities is required. Specific requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and able to use tools. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, alcohol, firearms in the field or residential housing. Work is performed in open fields and may involve exposure to mud, dust, wind, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Temperatures can range from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. See Addendum C.
