Job Duties:
Vegetables Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Shovel, haul, spread manure, & dig holes, ditches, & trenches. Manually plant, cultivate, harvest, count, load, & unload vegetables, produce, horticultural specialties & field crops (cucumbers, eggplant, & squash). Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives, & any other farm equipment related to planting cultivating, & harvesting vegetables & watermelons. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, pulling weeds, raking, cleaning around shed area, thinning/pruning crops, applying pesticides, cleaning, grading, & packing harvested product. Watermelon Perform manual labor to hand cut & pack watermelons. Use hand tools such as shears and knives. Duties also include cleaning, loading, & unloading harvested products. Grade & sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, & quality to ensure correct processing & usage. Discard inferior/defective products estimate their weight, visually/by feel. Place products in containers according to grade & mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh, & count products & materials. Examine & inspect containers, materials & products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Strawberries - Fruit pickers harvest, sort, & gather fruit with their hands. Gently remove fruit from branches & vines making sure not to damage. Fruit pickers are expected to work quickly & efficiently. Strawberries grow on low-lying plants, so you must have the endurance & strength to bend over for a long period of time. You will need to place them in a bucket carefully so no injury may occur to them. Once the bucket is full, you will empty into crates & boxes. Fruit pickers must be detail-oriented, fast, & reliable so they can remove fruit without loss. Prune strawberry bushes by hand using pruning shears & loppers. Remove debris from fields using hoes, shovels, baskets, etc. Fruit harvesters must carefully, yet quickly, inspect fruit & bushes for signs of disease, insect manifestations, worms, rot, & remove/replace bushes as directed by farm manager. Each worker must pick the plants clean of all ripe fruit. It is the pickers responsibility to sort good product from contaminated/rotting fruit to ensure produce is routed to appropriate facilities for cleaning & distribution. Graft blueberry plants, prune blueberry bushes by hand using pruning shears & loppers. Inspect bushes for damage, disease, or insect infestation & remove/replace as directed by farm manager. May also pick blueberries by hand & load blueberries to be transported. Blueberries are perishable & must be picked & packed within a limited time of harvest. Inspect field to maintain a weed free strip between rows by removing weeds, grass, etc. using hoes/pulling by hand. Remove debris from fields using hoes, shovels, & basket. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. May drive workers to and from the field and/or to the super market.

Applicants must be 18 years or older. If driving, a valid driver's license is required. Perform prolonged bending reaching and lifting to 60lbs. Remove debris from fields using hoes, shovels, baskets, etc. All tools, equipment and supplies will be provided at no cost to workers. Workers may repair fences and farm building and participate in irrigation activities. Work in extreme weather conditions in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squad, kneel, crouch, bend (from waist), push, pull, reach, and lift. Workers must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Hours and days of work may vary doe to weather conditions.
