Job Duties:
There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workers with specific jobs and to demonstrate proper methods of working. Duties and Responsibilities: All seasonal requirements for the harvesting of different varieties of Christmas trees according to established company procedures taking into account instructions based on market and operational demands. Land preparation includes picking up sticks and rocks. Beginning on or about October 1, 2021, workers begin preharvest activities. The Christmas tree harvest will begin shortly thereafter depending on environmental conditions. Harvest requires the packing of trees out of the fields, shaking the trees to remove dead needles, baling the trees using baling equipment, transport of trees on trailers and the loading of trees into trucks. Workers must exercise care to avoid damage to trees and equipment. Other farm responsibilities include clean-up and road maintenance. When needing to lift items weighing more than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load. The trees are cut with the use of a chain saw that weighs 30 lbs and must be carried throughout the farm, going from one tree to another. The trees selected for harvesting range from 6' to 8' from top to the cut and range in weight from 60 lbs up to 75 lbs once cut down. The trees are then stacked onto a pile and removed from the area with the use of a sling. The trees are then transported to a staging area where they are individually bailed and loaded by hand onto a truck for transport to the different wholesaler or vender locations. Once the harvesting is completed, workers will clean the farm area and staging area of all debris and finish the removal of roots and stumpage as required. CHRISTMAS TREE OPERATIONS: Work in cold, wet weather; Lift and carry 75-80lb(50lbs and above; assistance may be used) trees continuously throughout the day; Cut trees using hand saw or chainsaw; Bundle trees, prepare for transport, and load into containers; Field work and clean up Other Job Specifications Include: 1. Worker will perform maintenance in Christmas tree fields including cone picking, weeding, hoeing, trunk painting, culturing Christmas trees, base pruning and tagging Christmas trees. 2. Workers must be able to use hand pruners, machetes and other hand tools involved with the harvesting and culturing of Christmas trees. 3. Christmas tree operations, workers must harvest/cut full-grown trees, lift and carry trees up to 80 pounds, and load them into a container, continuously throughout the day. 4. Provide general labor to assist in planting new trees by clearing property, planting seedlings, building trellis, installing irrigation, spreading of composted material and other labor considered necessary to develop new properties. 5. Cares for trees during growing process-recognize tree diseases. 6. Farm clean up tasks to include picking up garbage around the field and harvest landings, Cutting and burning unmarketable trees located in clear-cut sections. 7. Spot weed spraying, Limb removal, Hoeing weeds, Landscaping at the Shop, Office or Housing. Maintain a safe and healthy work area and report any safety concerns to the supervisor. Workers can also: 1. Drive tractors 2. Operate trucks to carry farm equipment, crops and farmworkers 3. Perform general repair of agricultural equipment. 4. Pack crops into containers. 5. Operate farm equipment used in the processes of harvesting Christmas trees. This would include balers, elevators, small tractors and other automated devices.

*SEE ADDENDUM C 4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 75lbs.When lifting above 50 lbs, workers will be allowed assistance. 4g) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 4h) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheel barrows, trees, etc. 4i) May require worker to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time while trunk painting, hand fertilizing, examining, selecting, cutting, transporting, etc. 4j) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as weeding, irrigating, planting, cone picking, removing debris, etc. 4k) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example cone picking, sorting, base pruning, shoveling, weeding, etc.
