Job Duties:

The position for an onion packing shed worker for an employer that grows, packs and ships onions. This job requires a minimum of three (3) months of general farm labor experience. The lifting requirement for this position is 50 pounds. The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops to customers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more or different hours than those listed. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Saturday work may be required. Work may be offered on the workers Sabbath and work may be offered on federal holidays but the workers is not required to accept. Employer-paid drug test is required if a worker has an accident at work. Worker must possess requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the harvest process throughout the workday. Workers must work at a sustained, vigorous pace and make bona-fide efforts to work efficiently and consistently that are reasonable under the climatic and all other working conditions. Worker may never ride on agricultural equipment not designed for work related riding purposes or any other non-passenger intended equipment unless instructed and authorized by the employer or supervisor to do so. All work-related injuries must be immediately reported to the crew leader, foreman, or supervisor. Full Packing Season Commitment: The job offered requires that the worker be available for work every day that work is outlined in the job order for the full period of employment. The worker agrees to be available for work and perform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work is available per the job order through the full period of employment. Training: There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workers with job specification and to demonstrate proper sorting, baggins and stacking methods and other crop specific issues such as particular grading and or sizing. Job Descriptions: 1. Workers will stand at sorting table and sort bad onions from good onions- shift will start at 7:00am. 2. Workers will stand at bagging stations and bag 25lb/50lb bags of onions and tie bags. 3. Workers will stand at round table and stack 25lb/50lb bags of onions onto wooden pallets. 4. Workers will be required to clean packing shed and storage shed daily after each packing shift. put precut lumber in a metal jig( holds lumber in place) and use pneumatic nail gun to nail lumber together to make components for wooden onion bins and then take components and nail together to make wooden bins. Nail with pneumatic nail guns prebuilt components together and spray paint logo on bin.
