Job Duties:
$1725.75 per month + food & housing –On call 24/7. Employer maintains a spring calving season and a fall calving season. Workers must be able to ride a horse. Ride for cattle on the winter range. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Performs any combination of the following tasks on the ranch. Examines animals to detect diseases and injuries. Repair all fences as needed. Feed & water livestock on range or at ranch headquarters. Feed hay to cattle daily. Assure viable water sources, use axe to chop large holes in frozen creeks and rivers to assure sufficient water is available. Maintain the health of mother cows and the herd in general. Protect pregnant cows from harsh winter stress. Prevent hypothermia, abortion & death. Move cows at a pace & distance sufficient to ensure they have enough water & forage available during daylight hours. Cows must arrive at natural shelters by nightfall to protect cows during blizzards, high winds and extreme cold. Worker is also responsible to maintain health of horses to include care on ice and in storms. Maintain hooves on horses for the duration of the winter. Move snow, prepare for calving. Spring Calving begins in March in May. Workers must be willing and able to perform all duties per the employers requirements during the contract period. Workers will be expected to work in conditions normally associated with Colorado climatic winter conditions.

Special Requirements:
The employer will provide workers compensation coverage for injury and disease arising out of and in the course of the workers employment and no cost to the worker and will be in effect not later than the beginning date of this job order. The employer will provide at no cost to worker, a cell phone as an effective means of communicating with persons capable of responding to the workers need in case of an emergency. This devise may be used for emergency or business use only. This may be substituted for other means if the conditions warrant. Worker will be directed and controlled by the ranch operator and/or designated foreman. However, workers are often required to work alone for long periods without supervision and to perform the required work reliably and properly. Six months prior experience as a general ranch worker and one satisfactory reference is required.
