Job Duties:
We need seasonal employees to assist with crops and cattle. From February until May employees will assist with calving and care of newborn calves. Job duties include processing when the cattle arrive, daily feeding while confined for the calving period and monitoring and doctoring when needed. Employees must be able to operate a tractor and feedwagon along with a payloader to feed cattle while confined. Cows will be sent to pasture to graze in June and will not need further intensive care. While cattle are in pastures no feeding or seasonal workers are needed to assist. Beginning in April, employees will assist with tillage and planting of corn and alfalfa. Employees will assist with irrigation in summer months and will help lay out irrigation pipe and check pivots. Haying season for native prairie grass hay begins in June and ends in August. Employees will cut, rake and bale hay. Employees will operate farm equipment to complete these duties including a tractor, mower, rake, baler, etc. Harvest of corn begins in late September and employees will assist by operating a tractor with auger and help unload trucks and fill bins. Employees will operate a tractor with tillage equipment. Employees will perform regular pen maintenance and must have knowledge of minimal tractor maintenance such as changing oil and grease when necessary. Employees will complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and irrigation systems.
