- Job Duties:
- Performs duties like: check characteristics and general condition of livestock, apply appropriate care, examine animals to detect illness/injury, assist in delivery and night calving, apply or administer medication/vaccinations, mix feed/additives and feed/water; place mineral blocks, drive equipment, herd livestock to various pastures, ride horse or 4-wheeler to move cows; confine livestock in stalls, clean/disinfect livestock corrals/stalls/sheds, dock, castrate, brand, clip/tag and clamp livestock. Assist with artificial insemination. Operate equipment for planting and harvesting hay; make hay, hoist/stack hay bales onto wagon/truck, repair, replace, and build barbed-wire fence, mow and spray for maintenance of cattle pastures, perform cleanup, and drive, load/unload pickup/ cattle trailers and/or semi trucks (on the ranch only). - Workers must be able to crouch and bend repeatedly (frequent stooping) as well as lift and carry items weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Repetitive movements. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Minimum of three (3) months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
