Job Duties:

Job duties are related to caring for hogs at two 4,000-hog sites and one 3,000-hog site. Tasks include helping to fill barns with new hogs, feeding pigs, checking and adjusting water, keeping daily records, and assisting with the sale of hogs when they reach market weight. Workers will also identify sick hogs, administer vaccinations and other treatments, check ventilation in the buildings, and use a power-washer to clean and disinfect hog buildings. If necessary, workers will remove dead hogs to the dead box with a truck. Workers may also be required to perform basic repairs and maintenance on the facilities and equipment as needed (e.g., welding damaged gates).

Special Requirements:

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Work begins at 7:30 a.m. Workers must be prepared to show up on time and be able follow instructions for the care of hogs. Smoking is strictly forbidden in hog buildings and work vehicles, since it may affect the hogs. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
