Job Duties:
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of mink. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to livestock production. Job duties will include the following responsibilities: check physical characteristics, observe general condition of livestock and apply the appropriate care; catch and handle live mink using appropriate protective gloves; examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease, rate of weight gain or to determine offspring delivery time; breed animals; deliver offspring and document birth; wean animals; weigh animals for selection of breeding stock; apply or administer medications, vaccines and/or insecticides; present animals for the grading of fur; euthanize sick animals and/or animals for harvest; take live blood samples; confine livestock in stalls; herd/move livestock; clean/disinfect livestock enclosures and skinning area; remove manure; clean feeding area; add bedding; repair pens and nest boxes; control pests; dispose of uneaten feed; set up skinning equipment; catch animals for euthanasia; skin animals; dispose of carcasses; pack skins for freezing; clean, dismantle, and sort skinning equipment; feed/water livestock; paint/repair/maintain farm structures; replace/repair fencing; perform general cleanup of farm/livestock areas; remove undesirable and excess growth from farm grounds.
