Job Duties:

This job requires appropriate mixing of materials and use of all personal protective equipment by the worker. Sprayer: The worker will operate a tractor with a mechanical sprayer attached containing chemicals/fertilizers used during the process. Under the direction of the General Equipment Supervisor, Spray applicators mix load and apply Fertilizer and Chemicals using the provided equipment. They must be capable of loading and transporting Chemicals Fertilizer and Water via Tractor or Manual Water trucks. Mix or apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation or chemical application on trees, or shrubs. Maintains spray equipment including preventive maintenance and minor repair; oversees compliance with label requirements; orders and may issue controlled pesticides; keeps records, prepares and maintains reports regarding control and use of pesticides; responsible for the safe storage and use of pesticides in conformance with all regulations.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: Field work begins at assigned time shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in high humidity and in freezing or high heat temperatures. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors; working around farm equipment/machinery is required, as well as working outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Physical requirements include working long hours (seasonally), working outdoors in the fields, and operating equipment/machinery as necessary while using the required PPE. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. with assistance. Potential hazards exist when working around chemicals, equipment, and machinery. Worker is occasionally exposed to dust. Worker may be exposed to plant pollens and to insects and noxious plants, and to fields which have been treated with insect, and/or disease control sprays. Worker should be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations.
