- Job Duties:
- Workers will harvest and haul sugarcane, operate farm equipment and perform manual labor such as hand harvesting, shoveling and clearing trees solely for Melancon Farms on the farm and for that farmer. Work is M-F 8am to 5pm, with 1 hr lunch. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Work is done in all kinds of weather. Job involves extensive and repetitive walking, lifting, and stooping. After hire, workers may be required to take a random drug test as part of fitness for duty, at employer's expense. Two-day training/orientation period. Possible work hours may vary (be more or less) due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns, but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of contract. Work tools, supplies and equipment provided at no cost. Housing provided at no cost for workers who can't reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday.
