- Job Duties:
- Harvesting for Broccoli, Cabbage: Workers walk behind field pack machine, bend to near ground level and cut broccoli/cabbage with knife after determining the quality is acceptable. Broccoli/Cabbage are pitched up onto the field pack machine. Workers select heads, check quality and put into boxes. Workers will be required to stack boxes onto pallets. Harvesting greens: Workers walk behind field pack machine, bend to near ground level and cut and bunch greens and pitch up onto the field pack machine. The workers will check quality and put into boxes. Workers will be required to stack boxes onto pallets. Harvesting watermelons: the workers will be picking them up directly from the ground and pitching onto field trucks. Other duties: Workers may be required to safely operate tractor powered field pack units and trailers in the field and between fields. Loading and transplant trays from greenhouse area onto trailers to go to fields to transplant. Field Work: Workers will be planting, pulling or hoeing weeds in vegetable fields, carry and connect irrigation pipe, and perform any other duties that are associated with field work and vegetable production. Training (all duties): The employer will provide 1 day of training, 2 days of work for the worker to meet production standards. Production Standards for harvesting broccoli/cabbage/kale/greens): After completion of training or break-in period, employer will expect workers to cut, field grade, bunch, pack into cases, and palletize at least 100 cases of "green vegetables" per 8 hour day per worker in the crew. Grade standard US#1. There is a 50 lb. Lifting requirement. There will be a post-hire random drug screen at employer expense.
