- Job Duties:
- Sept-Oct-Nov & March-April: Work in outdoor fields clearing 8,000 acres by removing shrubs, trees and rocks to prepare for planting, planting oats, sunflowers and grasses, and restoration including picking up rocks (10%), carrying rocks to a pile (7%), loading rocks onto a trailer (8%), pulling the trailer behind a truck to areas with erosion problems (5%), building rock dams with the rocks in erosion areas (10%), cutting away dead or overgrown tree limbs using hand saws, tree clippers and chain saws (5%), moving limbs, shrubs and trees into a pile away from structures and living trees (10%), burning the limbs, shrubs and cut trees and monitoring the burn (10%), driving tractors to perform farm duties (5%), repairing fences using hammers, nails, wire and wire clippers (5%), repairing structures as needed using carpentry tools (5%). Dec-Jan-Feb: Landscaping and manicuring 45 landscaped acres and pruning cedar trees on entire 8,000 acre ranch. Includes pulling weeds by hand (10%), trimming bushes and hedges using trimmers (5%), clearing dead leaves (5%), mulching dead leaves and grass clippings (5%), mowing grass (15%), edging using edger and lawn sheers (5%), burning cedar waste (5%). All tools and equipment will be provided by Dos Arroyos including but not limited to chain saws, weed eaters, chopping hoes, lawn mowers and other landscaping equipment, farm equipment, farm machines, and a bull dozer. Training on any equipment is available from the ranch foreman. Ice for coolers is provided daily for the workers.
