The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Job Duties:
Job duties include assist with sugarcane harvest; prepare and distribute shipping tickets to truck drivers; maintain loading site and roadways; direct truck drivers to and around loading site; open ditches in sugarcane fields; rake leaves off cane rows; general maintenance of of farm and equipment; pull harvest carts out of mud, if necessary; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; frequent stooping, extensive sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling for long periods of time; exposure to extreme temperatures. Base hours offered is 40 hours offered; overtime hours are usually offered during plentiful season and may include an additional 10-40 hours of overtime work depending on the nature of the season; higher wage may be paid based on experience. One unpaid hour for lunch.
