- Job Duties:
- Break ice in water troughs so cattle can drink, operate tank heaters; provide bedding for cattle to lay on, replace bedding as necessary to avoid contamination and disease, protect cattle from winter elements such as sleet, snow, ice, freezing temperatures; administering medication, processing, feeding, vaccinating livestock to strengthen immune system during extreme weather and calving; monitor cows multiple times daily during calving for injury and sickness; record number and weight of calves; provide mineral, provide feed to supplement diet during extremely cold weather; monitor animal health daily; monitor calf health multiple times daily; load cattle out and sell big cattle.
