- Job Duties:
- Drives and operates primarily John Deere farm machines equipped with GPS such as tractor, combine, harvester, to perform specified farm activities like plant, cultivate, disc, harvest, store crops such as soybeans, corn, cotton, hay, alfalfa; Hitches soil conditioning implement, such as plow, cultivator, harrow to tractor, and operates tractor and towed implement to furrow and cultivate soil; Drives tractor and operates designated towed machine, such as seed drill or planter, to plant crops; Drives truck or tractor with trailer attached to move crops or equipment to designated locations; Unload grain into storage bins or elevators; Tends sprinkler system that irrigates land; Starts engine such as CAT 3306 and adjusts controls of sprinkler system across field and starts pump that forces water through system to irrigate crops; Observes sprinklers to ensure uniform distribution of water to all areas; Prepares harvesting machine by adjusting speeds of cutters, blowers, and conveyors and height of cutting head or depth of digging blades according to type, height, weight, and condition of crop being harvested, and contour of terrain; Drives self-propelled harvesting machine to cut, thresh, clean, store crops; Refuels engine, lubricates machine parts, and monitors machine operations in the field to ensure optimum performance; Drives farm vehicle; Minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
