- Job Duties:
- Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Preparing the ground for planting. Clearing ground of rocks, sticks & roots by hand, clear brush and trees with chain saw. Use wood to build and repair boxes for digger. Manually weeding fields by hand or using hand tools. Drain water from fields with hand tools and shovel when needed. Haul hay. Load & unload boxes on trucks trailers or sweet potato harvesters. Repair, maintain and clean all hand tools and mechanical equipment prior to and after use. Workers may clean, maintain, or fix shop, potato shed or any other building. Workers may be asked to operate and repair vehicles, all tractors (in fields), skid steer, sweet potato setter, sweet potato harvester, sweet potato bedding equipment, backhoe, plant trailer/truck and forklift. Workers may use implements on farm including, but not limited to disk, dual, do-all, chisel plow, bush hog, hipper, litter spreader, fertilizer and grain buggies, water trailer to water plants, and any other equipment related to the planting and harvesting of crops. May do welding and torch work when necessary. Sweet Potatoes: Covering potatoes with use of bedding machine & covering with plastic. Cut slips by hand or with a knife, place in boxes to load & unload onto trucks. Walk behind potato transplanter and fill in slips by hand. Buckets used to pick up potatoes during fall. Worker will be riding on the digger while digging potatoes and the mechanical transplanter loading slips in planting cups. Divining plants by hand. May also plant and harvest Purple Hull Peas, Beans, and Corn. Wash/Pack Shed: Part of the farm, owned by E3 Partnership with 100% of its product. Worker will be washing, unloading, loading, sticker, grade, pack Sweet Potatoes for shipping. Workers will also make boxes, place pallets, and clean washing/packing area at end of day . Greenhouse: Workers will be cutting and transplanting slips inside the greenhouse and doing maintenance around the exterior. Duties may vary from time to time. May drive workers to/from housing to fields and to grocery store once a week. OFLC Administrator publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate regardless of rate increases or decreases. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules and ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.
