Job Duties:

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil, plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, backhoes, mowers, track hoes, ATVs and/or side by sides, and semi-trucks. Semi-truck operation does not require a CDL and will only occur to transport crops either from fields to farm operated storage units or to transport crops to elevators. Participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment and clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots; draining excess water from fields; monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Working with grain bins requires receiving crop for drying and storage at grain drying facility; disposing of spoiled grain and chopping grass out of fields; hauling grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment, monitoring grain moisture levels, preparing scale tickets, and shoveling grain. Employees will perform manual labor such as loading seed into planters, properly mixing chemicals, loading chemicals into sprayers, changing combine cutting head, rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields. Duties also include general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, fences, gates, barns and all farm equipment. Ensure operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment including grain augers; regularly servicing equipment; welding when necessary; lifting objects as needed; and mowing and landscaping around the farm. Job requires having or being able to obtain a driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills, and 3 months of experience are required. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often, and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements:

Basic literacy and math skills required. Applicants must have 3 months experience and be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, or walking. Random criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
