Job Duties:
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of potatoes, canola, grain, corn, alfalfa and cattle. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to agricultural equipment maintenance and repairs. Mechanic and Service Technician Work will include the following responsibilities: maintain, repair, service, and overhaul farm vehicles, trucks and machinery such as wheel loaders, tractors, tillage implement/planting/harvesting equipment and other implements; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders or saws; inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects or wear; fabricate parts, components or new metal parts using drill presses, engine lathes, welding torches and other machine tools (grinders or grinding torches); repair bent or torn sheet metal; service vehicles to maintain functionality; paint farm trucks/farm pickups/ farm equipment as needed; remove tires; repair axles; repair and replace trailer tarps; test and replace electrical circuits, components, wiring and mechanical equipment using test meters, soldering equipment and hand tools; drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for onsite repair of large machinery; perform general cleanup of farm maintenance and repair areas and a clean rock/weed free work area; maintain and/or repair wiring systems relative to all equipment used in the planting, sorting/handling, harvesting, and packing/storage of agricultural commodities; intermittently perform miscellaneous incidental duties related to general farm work and general cleanup of farm property in the areas around all maintenance and repair locations which may include maintenance of fencing, gates and miscellaneous welding needs.

Applicants must have 6 months experience with the applicable mechanic job duties and provide the contact information of at least one reference who can verify experience and performance. Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid drivers license as driving on public roads may be required. To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, the worker must, after a 10-day conditioning period, move an average of at least 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-foot sections of 4-inch pipe per hour under normal working conditions.
