Job Duties:
TOMATO HARVEST: Worker must harvest to quality standards which change depending on weather and market conditions as directed by Supervisor. Worker will move productively along row from start to end, stoop and bend to pick mature tomatoes by gently removing them from the vine taking care not to harm the vine, and gently place into plastic crate/cardboard box. A full crate is a crate that is filled to the rim. Workers must not overfill a crate so that another crate can be stacked on top to avoid bruising the tomatoes. Worker will carry and load the full crates onto a nearby truck, trailer or wagon. Harvested vine ripe tomatoes must be free of bruises, have color that is from a light yellow to a firm red, be free of surface defects and have no stems attached. Worker may be directed to pick tomatoes of various quality standards for various market needs. Vine ripe tomatoes that are defective/unsaleable will be picked and discarded onto the ground as directed by Supervisor. Worker must be able to pick up and carry 40 pounds. Workers may work individually or as a team. Workers will help others finish harvesting their assigned rows as instructed by Supervisor. All workers are responsible for total quality for team-picked product. At any given time, some workers will be picking, some may drive tractor, and some workers will work from wagon, be handed full buckets, and carefully place product into larger containers. Worker may be required to wash or rinse dirt/mud off of vegetables. Worker may use hose to wash, rinse or clean as directed by Supervisor. Pay will be hourly. POTATO HARVEST: Worker will hand harvest potatoes according to Supervisor direction. Moving along assigned row, worker will walk behind mechanical potato digger, pick up potatoes from and place in green hamper or black crate and place on truck, trailer or wagon. Worker may be required to use hand tools such as shovel to carefully remove potatoes from ground and place in green hamper or black crate. Damaged potatoes will be handled as directed by Supervisor. At any given time, some workers will be picking, some may drive tractor, and some workers will work from wagon, be handed full crates and hampers, and carefully place product into larger containers. Workers may work individually or as a team. Workers will help others finish their rows as instructed by Supervisor. All workers are responsible for total quality of team-picked product. Harvest conditions vary based on weather patterns and market demands. Worker may be required to wash or rinse dirt/mud off of vegetables. Worker may use hose to wash, rinse or clean as directed by Supervisor. Pay will be hourly.

Job requires worker to complete tasks in general labor, greenhouse labor, planting, transplanting, seeding, cleaning, cutting cedar, making wreaths, planting and/or harvesting of tomato, potato, cucumbers, pickles, zucchini, summer squash, onion, leek, beet, radish, lettuce, kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, melon, eggplants, pepper, corn, pumpkin, mini-pumpkin, gourd, winter squash, corn stalks, green bean, and straw. Experience Requirement: 3 verifiable months of commercial agriculture experience hand harvesting fruits and vegetables required. Applicants must furnish job references from recent employers within the past 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.
