Job Duties:
This is a job description for a tractor driver/sprayer. Crops: Apples, cherries and grapes (trees and vines) TRACTOR DRIVER: Specific individuals who have experience in driving tractors may be asked to help periodically in a variety of tractor driving activities. This could involve pulling a trailer to move objects such as trellis supplies, pulling a mower for cover crop control, pulling a sprayer and the application of agricultural chemicals, utilizing a tractor with back forks to move bins in the orchard to accommodate the picker. (Any sprayer activity would be under the supervision of a licensed spray applicator.) SPRAYER: The worker will operate a tractor with a mechanical sprayer attached containing chemicals / fertilizers used during the process. Under the direction of the Equipment/Spray Supervisor, spray applicators mix load and apply fertilizer and chemicals using the provided equipment. They must be capable of loading and transporting chemicals, fertilizer and water via tractors or manual water trucks. Mix or apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation or chemical application on trees, or shrubs. Maintains spray equipment including preventive maintenance and minor repair; oversees compliance with label requirements; orders and may issue controlled pesticides; keeps records, prepares, and maintains reports regarding control and use of pesticides; responsible for the safe storage and use of pesticides in conformance with all regulations. Must obtain WPS handler certification card to mix, load, spray/apply any chemicals or pesticides.

Worker must possess 3 months of tractor driving/spraying experience. 4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 60lbs. 4g) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 4h) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, equipment, etc. 4i) May require worker to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time driving a tractor, and spraying. 4j) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor duties. 4k) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example mixing and applying chemicals and fertilizers.
