The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Diversified Crops: corn, beans, wheat, hay & straw Workers may fill planters with seed from bags, by hand. Workers may use equipment to plant seeds. Workers may load and unload seed bags from trucks. Workers may transport harvested crops for storage. Workers may clean and prepare equipment and tools. Workers may prepare fields for next crop. Workers may assist in planting of hay & straw. Workers may assist in the harvest of hay & straw, picking up bale and place on trucks or wagons Other Related Duties: Workers may chop weeds from between plants with a hoe. Workers may remove tops and suckers from plants and apply side dressing.

Such work will be offered when climate or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities stated above. Alternative work may only be required
