Job Duties:

Crops/Commodities: sod, wheat, corn, soybeans, straw. Drive semi tractor-trailer truck to/from delivery or pickup destinations. Regularly climb into and out of trucks and trailers. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure. Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers. Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maneuver trucks into and out of loading and unloading positions. Load-unload trailers and cargo. Handle equipment and cargo carefully to prevent damage. Drive tucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations. Interact with roadway officials. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection and paperwork on trucks and trailers. Clean/maintain lights, windows, and mirrors, and vehicle exterior. Add engine oil and fuel as needed. Perform preventative maintenance. Must be able to drive in rain, snow, and other hazardous conditions as needed. Drive in both on-road (paved) and off-road conditions. May drive other vehicle types. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Drivers may assist with the following tasks: Work in fields. Prepares soil/growth medium. Spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, lime and other soil conditions on sod grass and turf areas. Dig, rake, and screen soil. Sow grass seed and plants sod plugs. Unrolls and place sod. Cut, roll and stack sod. Mow, cut, and weed fields. Install sod. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Use power equipment including but not limited to: tractors, planters, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, power shears, chain saws, fork lifts, skid loaders. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. Build/repair fences. Perform the following tasks associated with wheat, corn and soybean production: Plant, cultivate and weed as needed. Harvest crops. Bale and store straw. Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in handling product weighing up to 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet.

Special Requirements:

This job requires a minimum of 6 months of verifiable prior experience driving/servicing the combination of a manual tractor unit and semi-trailer with a GVWR rating of greater than 26,001 lbs. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs. Post-hire employer-paid DOT physical, background check and motor vehicle records check. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing required. Must have and maintain a valid Class A CDL with air brake and double/triple endorsements to permit driving of trucks.
