The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Job Duties:
Job duties include drive tractors, combines, and grain trucks; prepare land; plant, cultivate, harvest rice, grain, soybeans, corn and sorghum; hand plant sugarcane; maintain levees; maintain/sweep grain bins; shovel work; operate large equipment; cut weeds; spray and clean fence lines; crawfishing in boats, catching crawfish, performing crawfishing duties in fields; bait/check crawfish traps; repair crawfish traps; shovel work on levees; 3 months of experience in similar farm occupation required. Base hours offered is 40 hours offered; overtime hours are usually offered during plentiful season and may include an additional 10-40 hours of overtime work depending on the nature of the season; work schedule includes one unpaid lunch hour; higher wage may be paid based on experience.
