Job Duties:
FARM LABORER: Thinning: Thinning is a manual process used to control the size and quality of grown fruit. Worker must possess ability to pick up and handle 8-foot orchard ladder weighing 40 pounds. Worker removes smallest fruit blossom, bud and/or identifiable fruit from within fruit cluster. Worker identifies and removes misshapen, damaged and/or other not quality fruit as directed by Employer. Pruning: Pruning numerous varieties of apple and peach trees according to established company procedures based on difference in treatment of different varieties. Worker performs pruning on trees for long periods of time using variety of pruning equipment including hand shears, hand loppers, hand saws, and 8-foot ladders. Pruning may be done from ground or up to 8 feet ladder or from motorized platform. Worker may be required to selectively prune only certain size and color trees as instructed by Employer. Worker must possess or acquire pruning skills in order to identify and remove stubs or broken branches, downward-growing branches, branches which rub against each other, shaded interior branches, dead wood and shoots/suckers with hand pruning saws and clippers, mechanized equipment in pruning activities. Packing: Workers will pack peaches grown by Gold Coast Farms Inc. Worker will be required to pack all varieties of peaches grown by the employer into various containers as market conditions, weather conditions, and orders change. Worker must be willing and able to work all positions of packing line when asked to do so by supervisor. Worker must inspect final packaging, and final product containers before each use. Worker will be required to gently handle peaches in order to prevent bruising or other damage to fruit. Worker will be required to visually sort by size, color, and grade, or other specifications related to weather conditions or customer requests. Worker will be required to stand on feet for long periods of time and bend, lift, and stack up to 60 lbs. Worker will be required to sort and inspect fruit on moving belts and conveyors, worker must have good eyesight in order to inspect fruit for long periods of time. Worker will be required to gently handle fruit from moving belts, round tables, and conveyors during the inspection process and place fruit on another moving belt to re-route its intended destination on the packing line. Worker will be required to clean/sanitize equipment and buildings. Worker will be required to abide by all safety and food security policies. Worker will be required to help make packaging and to help sanitize bins and other picking equipment and packing line equipment. Worker will be required to wear personal protective equipment, provided by employer, and follow the label instructions for cleaning chemicals and sanitizers. Worker must be able to safely move in, around, and under packing line equipment. Worker will be required to wear hair nets, gloves, and aprons under certain working conditions. Worker must be able to perform a task while looking up and using their hands above their forehead such as overhead cleaning or lifting final product up to shoulder height when performing stacking activities. Worker will be required to use scales for weighing, and run different parts of the packing line equipment, or box making equipment. Worker will be required to help palletize produce and do other jobs around packing houses as required by supervisor. In the event on an injury or illness that occurs during packing activities worker must stop packing and report to supervisor immediately. SEE ADDENDUM C FOR ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

Experience Requirement: 2 verifiable months of commercial agriculture experience required. Applicants must furnish job references from recent employers within the last 3 years establishing acceptable prior experience. Drug testing may be required if worker is involved in workplace injury resulting in damage to property or injury to others. Worker agrees to testing as a condition of employment. Testing done at employers expense and not utilized as a pre-employment tool. Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for and worker agrees to work every day that work is available for entire employment period. Worker must be able to perform job description duties in safe manner consistent with established safety procedures.

$18.00 per 18-bushel bin harvested in Apple Hand Harvest. Piece rates are minimum and may change during season or hourly rates may be offered. Employer guarantees worker payment not less than state's AEWR hourly rate for each hour worked.
