Job Duties:
In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to work outside 8 to 7 hours a day in all kinds of weather including, but not limited to extreme cold and hot conditions, direct sunlight, and rain and have the required physical strength and endurance to perform the work. Workers will perform prolonged sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying 0-30 lbs. Due to the nature of this type of work, there will be a Probationary Period of six (6) days beginning on the first day of employment for the employee to acclimate to the job specifications listed under the Job Descriptions and Requirements. The worker will be given specific instructions as to how to properly perform the work specified in the Job Description and Requirements Section on the first day of work. Quality work must be performed and adhered to and no messy work will be permitted. If the worker works by the piece rate he/she must make the federal minimum salary after the Probationary Period. At the end of the first work week, the worker will be evaluated. If the worker does not perform the work as specified under the Job Descriptions and Requirements, he/she may be terminated. The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the workers. All drug testing will be carried out after the workers begin employment and is not part of the interview process. Workers who do not go through or decline a drug test will result in immediate termination. Ag Machine, Equipment, and Vehicle Operation-The worker will drive, operate, and maintain various agricultural farm machines, equipment, and vehicles to perform work on the blueberry and pecan farm and also operate to harvest the blueberries and pecans on the farm. They will consist of and are not limited to, field trucks, tractors, blueberry and pecan harvesters, irrigation equipment, All Terrain Vehicles, refrigerated trucks, and forklifts. The worker will also attach farm implement such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bots and hand tools. The worker must use safety and precaution when using agricultural farm equipment and vehicles. All passengers must be seated and practice safety and precaution. The passengers must wait to exit the agricultural farm equipment and vehicles when the driver comes to a complete stop and gets off the vehicle. The workers will keep the agricultural farm equipment and vehicles free of trash. Field Work-The worker will dig trenches, install, repair, and replace ground cloth, install and repair irrigation, manually and machine weed and mow the blueberry plants and surrounding areas. The worker will irrigate the soil using portable pipes or ditch sytems, and maintain the ditches pipes, and pumps; load and unload crops or containers of materials manually using conveyors, hand trucks, and forklifts. They will mix specified materials and dump solutions, powder, and seeds into planter and sprayer machinenery. The fields will be cleaned up after the harvesting season in order to prepare for the the next harvesting season. The worker will also plant new blueberry bushes or pecan trees to replace those lost to freezes or disease and will perform other miscellaneous work as assigned by supervisor. Blueberry and Pecan Planting-The worker will go down the field rows and make a hole using a hole digging tool to plant the blueberry bush or pecan tree according to the specifications given by supervisor. The hole is then covered and topped with mulch or soil if necessary. An irrigation line will be staked beside the bush, so that the necessary water will go into the plant, if necessary.
